Quintuplet ED Refractor
The FRA400C features a 72mm aperture, 400mm focal length, and a focal ratio of f/5.6. It adopts a quintuplet lens design with two ED glasses, supporting a 44mm full-frame image circle.
Self Flattened Design
The optical structure of the FRA400C is the same as that of the FRA400, which is also designed with a Petzval-like optical design, eliminating the need for specific back focus calculations. Between 50mm and 60mm connection distance, users can directly use it for shooting after the OTA is in focus.
Versatile Applications
The FRA400C is mechanically optimized for different applications. You can use it for astrophotography, daily photogoraphy, and visual observation.
Retractable Lens Hood
The FRA400C is equipped with a retractable lens hood and an engraved nameplate ring.
Adjustable Aperture
The aperature ranges of the FRA400C is from f/22 to f/5.6, with marked scales on the tube for step-based adjustments to prevent accidental changes and preserve settings.
Integrated Helical Focuser
One-speed helical focuser with a locking screw for easy use, it uses MXL-type synchronous gears, compatible with MXL timing-belt for electronic focusers (note that the gear and timing belts are not included; please see the photos above showing the specifications of the gear and belts for various popular focusers). The focus adjuster is an adjustable damping structure, which can increase the damping of the focus adjuster and make it more stable for astrophotography. In daily photography, it can help increase focus speed.
Expandable Multi-hole Quick-release Tube Ring
The FRA400C features an improved expandable tube ring with four sets of M4 and M6 threaded holes for different accessory mounting. Two finder bases are included for attaching astronomical accessories.
Multi-Functional Handle Bar
At the bottom of the tube ring, the FRA400C incorporates a multi-functional handle, it includes multiple holes for mounting dovetail plates or equipment. It also has M6, 1/4", and 3/8" threaded holes for tripod mounting. The handle doubles as a carrying grip when the telescope is flipped.
Dovetail Plate
Standard 290mm Vixen-style dovetail plate for smooth installation and handling.
Rotation
The entire OTA can be rotated to adjust angles during imaging.
Four-Piece Photographic Adapter
The FRA400C rear-end features a four-piece photographic adapter (M72-M54-M48), with a built-in 2" filter thread in the M48 adapter.
Visual Observation Adapters
