Tele Vue is pleased to announce the FoneMate smart phone adapter # SFA-0001. Use of this adapter allows you to take photos with your smartphone through the telescope's eyepiece, and it is a convenient way to enter the world of Digiscoping.
The FoneMate can connect to any of TeleVue's DIOPTRX compatible eyepiece types, especially Delos and DeLite models that feature sliding, locking eyeguards. It will work with phones from about (width x height): 60 x 114-mm (2-5/16" x 4-1/2") to 120 x 212-mm (4-3/4" x 8-5/16") in size.
The Fonemate is Ideal for solar, lunar, planetary photography and wonderful for birding, nature and telephoto applications. This high quality adapter features a heavy-duty plastic plate and rubber tipped metal arms to hold smart phones secure and withstand rugged use. The minimum and maximum arms spreads make it compatible with virtually all currently popular smart phones.
To minimize vignetting and maximize image quality, see the Eyepiece Specifications table for eyepieces recommended for Digiscoping. As noted in the table, some eyepieces require an additional adapter. Because camera pupils move with zooming, you may find minimum vignetting at the extremes of zoom positions. Results will vary depending on the camera used.
