This filter can significantly reduce the transmission of light from sodium vapor and mercury vapor lamps, which are mainly located in the range from 575nm to 600nm wavelengths. High and low pressure sodium vapor and mercury vapor lamps, commonly used in street and industrial lighting, emit a yellow and orange glow from the ground to the sky, ruining nightscape views and astrophotos.
This filter is able to block the wavelengths from 575nm to 600nm, helping the camera's sensor record the correct color of the night sky and landscape.
The filter does not add a blue color cast or any other colors to the image but will increase the contrast between the sky and foreground landscape.
