These battery packs are especially popular with users of Celestron NexStar telescopes and for powering dew heaters (see additional details below).
In fact, the use of our AstroCell battery packs is not limited to astronomy - you can use it in just about any application that requires a 12V DC power source (security or camera equipment, light strips, electronic devices, etc.).
The Agena AstroCell AC-B01 is a small, portable battery pack with a single 12V unregulated DC output and a capacity of 3000mAh (3Ah). Its compact size and low weight (6.5oz) means that you can easily attach this directly on your telescope without taxing your mount.
To calculate how many hours this battery will last for your application, divide its capacity (6Ah) by the current draw (in Amps).
An AC wall charger is included. High efficiency batteries designed for a slow charge process enhance battery life. To improve battery performance and life, internal circuitry provides short-circuit, over-current and over-charging/discharging protection. Five green LEDs on the side provide an indication of the battery's remaining charge at all times.

- The output connector on the battery pack is a 5.5mm ID x 2.1mm center pin female socket.
- A short splitter cable (10" in length) with a female 5.5x2.1mm female socket on one side and two 5.5x2.1mm male connectors on the other side is also included. This allows you to convert the female output socket on the battery pack into a male pin, and it also allows you to charge the battery with the included AC adapter while it is in use. Note that you cannot charge and use the battery at the same time if you are using the female socket on the battery pack.
Applications and Connection Options
- Users of Celestron telescopes and accessories can use this battery pack directly since Celestron also uses 5.5x2.1mm connectors. You may, however, wish to purchase the optional 2.1mm male to 2.1mm male extension power cable (part # AC-C01) for more placement flexibility.
- Users of Meade telescopes and accessories will need to purchase the 2.1mm male to 2.5mm male conversion cable separately (part # AC-C02).
- To power dew heater strips sold by Dew-Not, Dew Ninja, Kendrick, Thousand Oaks and others that feature a male RCA pin, you will need the optional 2.1mm male to RCA female cable sold separately (part # AC-C05). This cable will let you power one heater strip. You can add the optional Dew-Not Y splitter RCA cable (part # PADP-DN-DNS) to this cable to power two heater strips simultaneously. With these, the Agena AstroCell battery pack is a great device to provide portable power to telescope and camera dew heaters in the field. It is also a far more economical alternative to more expensive dew heater controllers that you might otherwise not need.
- ZWO's cooled/Pro cameras work with either 2.1mm or 2.5mm DC connectors, so this battery pack is a great alternative to their 12V AC power brick as well.
